General Return Information

We hope you don’t have to return a product, but we do our best to make the process as simple as possible. Please know Powertrain Products only charges a small fraction of what it actually costs to ship our products. When products are returned, we must re-test and, in some cases, dismantle and rebuild all returns to ensure anything resold is the same quality for the next customer. Shipping these items is extremely costly, and our remanufacturing process is extensive and requires a lot of skill.

Because of these expenses, you will forfeit any upfront freight charges, and you will need to arrange return shipping. We also charge a 10% restocking fee and an additional $150 for any items purchased during a free freight promotion. In the event you used financing to purchase a product, we will request that you pay the restocking fee prior to returning the item.

When returning a product, please be sure to get a Return Merchandise Authorization number (RMA) from your sales person to start your return process. The RMA# must be clearly visible on the returned item. If it's returned without an RMA, it will be refused and returned at the purchaser's expense.

Can I return a product?

We do accept returns, but all return shipping arrangements and costs are your responsibility.

Can I exchange a product?

Please give us a call to discuss exchanges. These are handled on a case by case basis.

How do I return or exchange an item?

First, please contact us for a return merchandise authorization number (RMA). Once you have the number, package the parts in the original package. You are responsible for making the freight shipping arrangements and the return shipping cost. We recommend you buy insurance for the return shipment, as we are not responsible for returns that get lost or damaged in transit. You will receive your refund within 14 days from the time the part arrives back in our inventory. Please be aware that we charge a 10% restocking fee, which will be deducted from your refund.

What if you send me the wrong product?

We hope this never happens, but please call us so we can make arrangements for return and re-order.

What if I ordered the wrong product?

You will need to return the item following our typical returns process.

How long do I have to return or exchange a product?

You have 30 days from the time you purchased the part to return or exchange.

Are there certain products I can't return?

Yes. Any product that has been installed, used, or run cannot be returned. There are also no returns for special order items. We encourage you to speak with your sales rep to get any questions answered before finalizing your order!

Do I have to pay any restocking fees?

Yes. We charge 10% of the cost of the product. It will be deducted from your refund upon return.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

Yes. Return shipping is your responsibility.

How long will it take to receive my refund?

You will typically receive your refund within 7-10 business days after we receive your return, but this depends on your bank.

How long do returns take to process?

Anywhere from 2-14 business days, depending on time and labor availability.

What if my product is defective or damaged?

Please call us to make arrangements for return and re-order.

What if my return never arrives? Do I still get a refund?

You do not. That’s why we recommend you insure anything you ship to us.

What if someone else purchased the product for me and I need to return it?

You will have to speak with the person who ordered the product. You cannot return an item you did not purchase.

What is your core return policy?

Fill out this form or call us at 888-842-0023, ext. 3 when you are ready to have your core picked up. If you return your core within 15 days using the documents and shipping methods we set up, there is no core charge. Please use ONLY the documents we send to you after calling us about the pickup or you may be liable for additional charges.

For orders outside the continental US, all core charges must be paid upfront since many times the return freight exceeds the cost of the core. Your sales rep will be happy to advise you on your specific situation.
